Yes, my rates reflect the specialized expertise, education, and convenience of a service that extends beyond traditional personal training.
In the San Jose area, personal training rates vary considerably. Premium fitness clubs such as Equinox, VillaSport, Bay Club, and Almaden’s own AVAC charge between $100-$140 per session, while trainers at larger ‘big box’ gyms typically charge between $75-$100. While many of these trainers provide valuable services, the scope of education and experience among fitness trainers varies significantly.
What distinguishes my service is a unique combination of credentials and experience. I am both a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy (PT, DPT) with 17 years of natural bodybuilding experience. The NSCA-CSCS credential requires a bachelor's degree and is widely regarded as one of the leading certifications in strength and conditioning. Becoming a physical therapist requires extensive graduate-level education, successful completion of a doctoral program, and passing the FSBPT National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for licensure.
For my clients, this means receiving guidance from a professional with advanced training in human movement, exercise prescription, strength development, injury risk management, and physical performance. Rather than working with a provider whose expertise is limited to either fitness or rehabilitation, clients benefit from a broader skill set that integrates both perspectives.
My rates further reflect the convenience of a fully mobile service. Sessions are provided in your home, eliminating the need to commute to a gym and allowing training to occur in a comfortable, familiar environment. Additionally, my rates account for travel time, equipment, insurance, business expenses, and self-employment costs that are not incurred by employed gym trainers.
When considering the combination of advanced credentials, individualized service, and in-home convenience, I believe my rates are competitive and provide substantial value for clients seeking a higher level of expertise and personal attention.

Absolutely. Research indicates that the most effective weight loss approach is maintaining a prolonged calorie deficit. I am more than happy to use the sessions to help guide you on the journey. With adherance to basic dietary controls, weight loss should be achievable. While I can provide general nutritional guidelines, I am not a registered dietician or certified nutritionist. I do not provide professional or personalized meal plans for liability reasons. I would recommend to consult a registered dietician if this is what you are seeking.

Absolutely! While I specialize in the older population, I have had past and present clients of younger ages or higher functional capacity. Whether you want to work on balance to prevent falls or are looking to do 20 burpees and 10 pull ups, I am comfortable with all functional ranges. I have experience with clients as young as 12 to as old as 110. Please feel free to reach out and we will discuss your goals!
